Season Recap

~~CPYLA Families~

Thank you for another great season of LAX! Where to start: this has been a year of many firsts for CPYLA and it's only the beginning! We started off the season with another successful Ice Breaker Tournament doubling our profits for the third year in a row. A great big Thank You goes out to Kathryn Nafstad, our current Tournament Director, and her amazing husband Tim and supportive kids as well.  For the first time in CPYLA history our U15 team made it to the Championship round and took 2nd in the tournament. A few other firsts during the tournament were having the girls and U9 featured in showcase games.

This season was the first year that CPYLA has had a U9 team, giving us a team in every age bracket.  We are also thrilled to have the girls program merging with us. We moved our games from WillowStone to NorthWoods Park and had green grass to play on all season. The girls 7/8 team was returning Champs at the Prior Lake Tournament, while the girls 4/5/6 also played strongly that weekend. Every CPYLA team has had an amazing season and we may have teams that make it to the State Tournament!

I have received feedback from many referees this year on how well behaved our fans are and how our teams play a clean game of lacrosse. You should be very proud of how you and your athlete have represented CPYLA.

CPYLA will be having an all team end-of-the-season party on Thursday August 7, 2014 6:30 pm at Elm Creek Park Reserve. CPYLA will be providing pop and chips. Please bring a dish to share and your own meat to grill (there are some grills available). We will be having the picnic in the general picnic area near the playground, so look for the CPYLA Banner.

CPYLA would appreciate your feedback by completing the following survey.

We will have several open board positions after this season, so please consider how you can step in to help lead this all-volunteer organization.  We are looking for a new Registration Director, Director of Fundraising, Treasurer, Coaches & Equipment Director, and U13-15 Boys Director. Thank you to all of CPYLA’s current and past Board Members, for all of your hard work and dedication for making CPYLA the great association that it is.

Words cannot express how proud I am to be part of an amazing association. Please feel free to reach out to me at any time by email at jeannegldlt@live.com or on my cell at 763-245-9182.

Thanks for a great season, see you on the field!
LAX ON!
